Materials & Stones Guide

A curated yellow-gold jewelry still life on ivory, navy, and aubergine stone

The Mythara assortment includes different metals, purities, stones, and finishes. This guide helps you compare them, while each listing names the materials and choices available for the piece you select.

Gold purity and color

Karat describes the proportion of gold in an alloy. A 14K alloy contains a higher proportion of gold than 10K. Both include other metals, and their available yellow, white, or rose colors depend on the specific design.

“Gold plated” describes a gold layer over another material and is not the same as solid gold alloy. Read the complete material statement, including the identified component when a design combines materials.

Sterling silver

Sterling silver is a silver alloy commonly identified as 925. It can naturally tarnish as it reacts with its environment. Keep it dry, store it separately, and use only a cleaning method suitable for the complete piece.

Diamonds and lab-grown diamonds

Lab-grown describes a diamond's origin. Diamond origin, shape, cut, color, clarity, carat weight, count, dimensions, and grading report availability can all vary by product. When a grading report comes with a piece, its listing states that detail alongside the applicable diamond specifications.

Cubic zirconia, birthstones, and gemstones

Cubic zirconia is a diamond simulant, not a diamond. Birthstone designs and other gemstone jewelry may use natural, lab-created, or simulated stones as identified on the product page. A month, color, or traditional stone name alone does not establish origin or treatment.
