What 14K gold means

Karat describes the proportion of gold in a gold alloy. Fourteen-karat gold contains approximately 58.3% gold, with other metals making up the remainder of the alloy.

Because 14K gold is an alloy, solid gold does not mean pure 24K gold. It means the jewelry is made from 14K gold alloy rather than covered with a layer of gold.

Solid 14K gold versus gold plating

In gold-plated jewelry, a thin layer of gold is applied over another base material. Mythara jewelry is made from solid 14K gold alloy, not coated with gold.
